Revolution is happening right now. It is growing coming up from the ground and coming out of the hearts. Jesus started a revolution, the revolution that he started is being revived at this time. |

Revolution means to me the connotations of war. When there has been revolution, there has been some type of war or revolt to bring about a change. Revolution used to be the term for celestial bodies and then became a man made word for socitial change brought about usually by force. There was the Boston Tea Party, the American Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, the Sexual Revolution among the history of revolutions, and now a revolution to free Iraq by the good ole' U.S.A. There has always been revolutions of some sort or another that has changed history. Some say there is a difference between revolution and war. Is there?
Besides my thoughts about revolution, I looked up the word on the net. This is some of what I read on Wikipedia: "A sudden, radical, or complete change b : a fundamental change in political organization; especially : the overthrow or renunciation of one government or ruler and the substitution of another by the governed c : activity or movement designed to effect fundamental changes in the socioeconomic situation d : a fundamental change in the way of thinking about or visualizing something : a change of paradigm The Consciousness Revolution was a period of spiritual awakening in American history, according to Strauss and Howe in their books Generations and Fourth Turning. They put the years of the Consciousness Revolution as 1964 to 1984. Under Strauss & Howe's system, the era before the Consciousness Revolution was the American High; the era that follows it is the Culture Wars era. The Consciousness Revolution began with urban riots and campus fury and swelled alongside Vietnam War protests and a rebellious counterculture. It gave rise to feminist, environmental, and black power movements and to a steep rise in violent crime and family breakup. After the fury peaked with Watergate in 1974, passions turned inward toward New Age lifestyles and spiritual rebirth. The mood expired during Ronald Reagan's Presidential re-election campaign in 1984 as one-time hippies reached their yuppie chrysalis. Age Location in History: The G.I. Generation was entering elderhood. As institution-founders and the "status quo", and they found themselves on the defensive side of the generation gap. The Silent Generation was entering midlife. They were thirty something when the slogan "Don't trust anyone over thirty" was popular. The Baby boomers were entering young adulthood. They were the hippie masses that made Woodstock so idyllic. Generation X was being born. Already, they were looking at the adult world as a source of mass confusion and were starting to be criticized as "bad". The criticism has moved up the age ladder with them." White Feather, why did present a question about revolution? What are your thoughts? |

Revolution to me means some form of drastic change. Usually happening on a mass scale, affecting large numbers of people.
It is evolution, with an 'r' in front of it. Evolution may be slower change, while revolution is evolution on a faster scale, with the r for revolt, which kick starts the r~evolution. |

Revolution Lyrics
Artist: The Beatles Album: The White Album You say you want a revolution Well, you know We all want to change the world You tell me that it's evolution Well, you know We all want to change the world But when you talk about destruction Don't you know that you can count me out Don't you know it's gonna be all right all right, all right You say you got a real solution Well, you know We'd all love to see the plan You ask me for a contribution Well, you know We're doing what we can But when you want money for people with minds that hate All I can tell is brother you have to wait Don't you know it's gonna be all right all right, all right Ah ah, ah, ah, ah, ah... You say you'll change the constitution Well, you know We all want to change your head You tell me it's the institution Well, you know You better free you mind instead But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow Don't you know it's gonna be all right all right, all right all right, all right, all right all right, all right, all right |

This gets overlooked on the slow version of the song John said:
But when you talk about destruction Don't you know that you can count me out...IN Because as he explained later he wasn't sure if he wanted to be in or out. In Revolution 9 there are screams, "get me out, get me out!" and sounds of destruction. Sometimes if you are in you can't get out, unless you die. |
